Hip Pain

Hip pain, hip symptoms and hip disorders are more common than realised, likely due to the difficulty with diagnosing them accurately. Several body areas can refer pain in the hip area and cause leg pain, including the lumbar spine, the sacroiliac joints, pelvic structures, buttock syndromes and the hip joint itself. Low back pain may refer pain in to the hip, sometimes as the main symptom.

Physiotherapy can help to make an accurate diagnosis of the cause of your symptoms so that appropriate treatment can be directed at the cause. We can help to reduce pain caused by inflammation, by using a whole tool box of treatments to restore you back to your normal life. Including acupuncture, and joint mobilisations, myofascial, muscle and soft tissue release to restore normal movement.

Assessing hip pain

For stubborn problems you may need a specialist orthopaedic opinion which may include scans and/or X-rays. We are able to discuss the best management for you.

At Tavistock Physio Clinics, we have our own rehabilation gym where we offer classes for those who have had, or are thinking of hip and knee joint replacement. Our physiotherapist can provide advice to those in need of weight management advice.
